3 Types Of Rc Helicopter Blade

R/C helicopter blades are really on the top of most beginners mind. Most of them want to know the different types of blades available today. Rc Hobby World Blogger is going to discuss the most common types of blades in the market today. Blades can be made from three types of material. The 3 types of blade are:

a) Wood Blades

Wood blades are the cheapest price in the market. It easily available in hobby shop. The kind of blade is suitable for beginners. From the my friends experience, wood blade are not meant for expert flyers that perform hard aerobatic style flying because it too much force it placed on the blades, they will snap like twigs. Trust me when I tell you this. It happened to me also and it was not a pretty sight. But on a lighter note, since the cost for wood blades is very economical, wood blades can easily be replaced more often, which is good for beginners because they tend to spend lots of money on parts in the beginning learning stages.

b) Fiberglass Blades

Fiberglass blades are made up of fiber glass and inherit many properties of fiberglass like strength and fitness. For aerobatic flying moves, fiberglass possesses exceptional capabilities. They can withstand the stress most crazy flying produces. The bad part is that they are usually costlier than wood blades but are easily available in hobby shops. The only limitation factor of fiberglass is its weight. The weight is heavier than wood blades which makes the performance of a heli much less.

You won’t notice the performance limitation on regular light flights, but when you take the heli on a joy ride of aerobatics, you’ll notice the engine work extra hard to get those blades spinning at the intended target speed. But since they are much stronger, the limitation can be ignored a little bit and, in my experience in a minor crash, it’s possible for the fiberglass blades to survive the impact.

c) Carbon Fiber Blades

Carbon blades are the strongest of all kinds of blades. They are made up of the same material from which cutting tools are made up of and therefore provide much strength to the blades. They are light in weight compared to the wood and fiber glass blades. But a complicated and costly method is used to produce them which accounts for their higher cost.

But if you like pamper your helicopter like I do, they are the best blade money can buy. Also they can be used in any aerobatic stunt without affecting any performance issue and without worrying they will snap like twigs in mid-air.

You might even notice the helicopter enjoying the feel of carbon on its rotors.
